Yokozunna
Yokozunna (Rodney Anoia) was one of the best "big men" of professional wrestling that ever lived.
Formally known as Konikas Maximas, he was thrust into fame in 1992 upon his arrival in the WWF. A few months later won the 1993 Royal Rumble thus earning himself a title shot at WrestleMania IX
He successfully defeated Bret Hart in Ceasar's Palace that night, capturing the title, but only to lose it a few minutes later to Hulk Hogan.
He will be best remembered for challenging Hogan and Bret Hart, however that is only a small part of his career accomplishments. Yokozunna actually carried Lex Luger to a good match at Wrestlemania X.
Who can not remember Yoko being carried out of Monday Night Raw on a forklift, after being injured by Vader
Rodney Anoia, who wrestled in recent years as Yokozuna, died Oct. 22 in London of a heart attack while on a wrestling tour in Europe, according to WWF.com. The 600lbs monster has been wrestling in the UK for a few dates, since he's banned in most states in the US due to his weight and health problems.
He left the WWF after he was unable to pass the New York State Athletic Commission physical. Because his failure would be recognized across the country in many states with commissions, the WWF was unable to use him. The WWF had indicated if he lost enough weight and got in shape so he could pass a physical, it would consider rehiring him.
Yokozuna (Rodney Anoia) was born October 2nd 1966, he made his pro wrestling debut in 1984, and competed in both the AWA and later in the WWF where he made a name for himself.
This tribute will be further updated in the future.
