Vince Russo
RUSSO TALKS ABOUT THE NEW WWE
Yes, WWE IS Hollywood!!!
Last week on the Pain Clinic, Vince Russo talked about the new WWE creative team -
" Stephanie McMahon is now in charge of creative and Stephanie McMahon was the individual who hired Hollywood writers. Basically, I think it is a situation where Vince put his daughter in charge, and Vince needs to let his daughter run the show. If Stephanie is not doing a good job . it puts Vince in a very very bad situation. How do you get your daughter out of that situation without leaving egg on her face? In my opinion, to put his own daughter in that spot was a very dangerous call to make."
"I walked into a room of four writers, with Michael Hayes and Paul Heyman, that had to be between the ages of 25 and 27 years old. After spending seven hours with those individuals I can honestly tell you, when I left the room, I knew exactly why Steve Austin left the WWE.
.. It's not easy dealing with [wrestlers], especially if you are a 25 year old Hollywood writer. These guys will eat you alive, chew you up and spit you out. I know Vince likes to think of himself as Sports Entertainment and Hollywood, but ... it was obvious to me that these four Hollywood writers weren't well-versed in behind the scenes of professional wrestling."
On meeting VKM after an absence of three
years and the XFL fiasco.
"I was absolutely shocked and taken back because this was not the same
guy that I worked so closely with for three years. The fire wasn't there. The
hunger wasn't there.
. Vince always likes to use the word bravado, and
the bravado just wasn't there. There could be a lot of reasons for that......
From a personal standpoint I just felt like I was dealing with a totally different
individual."
RUSSO GONE FROM WWE IN LESS THAN 1 WEEK!
Russo dumps WWE for fledgling Fed
In another twist to the Vince Russo-WWE story, it has been confirmed Russo has now left his position as a creative consultant with WWE for a position with the upstart NWA TNA promotion. Most insiders are not surprised at the move. Apparently Russo did himself no favors at a recent writers meeting; revealing he hasn't watched the WWE product for many months. "I am delighted to have Vince Russo as another addition to our support staff," said NWA TNA chief Jerry Jarrett.
JR TALKS ABOUT RUSSO
Vince Russo has returned to WWE in a writing capacity, which has made a few headlines within the Internet community. It is no secret that I personally lost a great deal of respect for Russo because of the way he left our company and for his lame creation of the "Oklahoma" character in the old WCW, but that was then and this is now. I laughed out loud when I read on the Internet that I have lost my "biggest political ally" in Austin and that Russo's return is seemingly putting my future in jeopardy in WWE.
I would like to think that I retain my job not because of Mickey Mouse politics, but because of job performance, as we all should, but maybe outsiders in the Internet world know more about my job/personal situation than I do. All of us that earn a living through this company should have one goal and one goal only every day we come to work -- how do we make things better for WWE? Within our various areas of responsibility, how do we increase business and profitability for our company?
Office politics exist in virtually every workplace, including sports entertainment, but no one should allow it to adversely affect jobs and productivity. Those that create their own agendas and put their personal issues before business should not be here and, I believe, will not be here long term. Hopefully, Russo will be able to contribute creatively for the company as we all continue to work diligently to turn things around. That's the only agenda anyone should have from where I sit, including yours truly.
RUSSO's NEW WWE ROLE
Reports floating around today reveal that Vince Russo will now be acting as an advisor to the company instead as part of the creative team. His job, at the moment, won't require him to be at WWE offices in Stamford, CT., not even attending live events. He will simply work from home. Some insiders believe that McMahon brought in Russo only for the purpose of somehow blocking him from writing the tell-all book from his WWE days which was surely going to be a best seller among wrestling fans. Stephanie McMahon is still the head of the creative team, a position which probably would've been Russo's if things didn't get ugly after he arrived.
RUSSO OFF THE WRITING TEAM
Just 24 hours after he was hired, Vince Russo has been given a new job, different to what he was hired to do. Dave Scherer of 1wrestling.com reported earlier today that Russo is not on the creative writing team anymore after a meeting was done yesterday between Russo, McMahon and the creative writers. His new job title is still not known, nor it is known if he'll even stay with the company since he said in the past that he'll only return if given complete creative control. I guess Vinny Ru will soon find himself back at his CD warehouse in Atlanta.
JR TALKS ABOUT RUSSO
It's no secret that Jim Ross isn't the biggest
fan of Vince Russo. In his latest Ross Report, JR - who still says Russo is
on the creative team - said that he lost a lot of respect towards him when he
quit the company and when he created the 'Oklahoma' character in WCW. Ross noted
hat bringing Russo back is good for the business and the one goal in mind for
everyone is to bring the company back on its strong feet. JR also shot down
the rumors of Russo's return putting his future in WWE in
jeopardy.
