Paul "Mr Wonderful" Orndorff

Fan letters

Hi all!

My name is Harald Hofer and I live in Linz, Austria. (Europe)

I've just visited your Paul Orndorff tribute page and I thought to myself that I should contribute to it a little bit. First I have to say that Orndorff truly was one of the greatest wrestlers that ever lived, yet for me he still is the greatest.

The guy had it all: a truly wonderful physique, the skills and determination. His matches against Hulk Hogan filled arenas nationwide to the roof and for me it is a shame that he never held any major title in the WWF. Asshole McMahon wouldn't even give him the IC-Belt!!!

Being the most hated man in the wrestling world back in 1986 and also being part of this year's biggest feud, Orndorff has reached Hall of Fame status in my opinion. There is no WWF feud that comes close to the Hogan vs. Orndorff war. I really enjoyed Paul's matches because this dude was so unpredictable. I mean let's face it: when he turned on Hogan in that tag team match against Bundy and Studd, the world was shocked and watched in disbelief.

At the end of his WWF career Orndorff was merely used as a jobber, one thing I hate and that showed me what a sucker McMahon really was then and what he is now. So in late 1987 Paul left the WWF and he was the first of a series of talented and legendary WWF men that followed him. Just look on Don Muraco, Junkyard Dog, Billy Jack Haynes or Ricky Steamboat.

I am 25 years old and I started to watch wrestling back in 1984. With my upcoming mails I want to send you some great Orndorff pics and I hope you can post them on your site. Let's do it for Mr. Orndorff, because that guy really earns that appreciation and fame.

I wish you a wonderful day!

Best regards,

Harald Hofer
