Yes, they threw little cardboard boomerangs
out to the crowd. I remember as a kid catching one and I still have it. Later
on I
became good friends with George Cannon who managed Costello and Kent and was
telling him the story at his house how I fought to catch one of the boomerangs.
He walked me over to a cupboard, opened it and said " help yourself"
to a box full of them. Kind of took the magic out of it. BTW, many old time
wrestlers ended their careers in the Detroit area working for The Sheik. He
would hire them when no one else would.

For those of you really interested in the
Fabulous Kangaroos, you can order the Kangaroos record book from wrestling

Here are some notes of interest from the Kangaroos record book.

I'm sure Don Curtis could tell many stories about Al and Roy having faced them with Mark Lewin on numerous occasions. Hey Don, the record book also says you battled the Kangaroos in Florida a few times with Joe Scarpa (Jay Strongbow) and Eddie Graham as your partners.
I am fascinated by reading old results about the legends from yesteryear. I see the famous wrestling names listed and am in awe. Hats off to historians like Jim Melby, J Michael Kenyon, Don Luce, Steve Yohe and co. These guys perform a great service by spending countless hours researching old newspaper clippings via microfilm.

Its' true. We had great matches in the NY area and Florida,
but I first ran into Al in New Zealand in the early 50's. I don't think Mark
and I wrestled Al and Roy until we met up with them in the early 60's. (Always
afraid to mention dates in this illustrious forum, because Scott Teal and others
are there to correct my "senior moments........and I don't want any
smart remarks from the Destroyer at this point either!).
